iN A DARK, DARK WOOD
In a dark, dark wood there was a dark, dark house.
And in the dark, dark house there was a dark, dark room.
And in the dark, dark room there was a dark, dark chest.
And in the dark, dark chest there was a dark, dark shelf.
And on the dark, dark shelf there was a dark, dark box.
And in the dark, dark box there was -

the pirate
Ruth was spending her vacation with her cousin Susan. Susan said that a pirate was staying in their house and died in the room Ruth was staying. His ghost was supposed to haunt the room. Ruth said she didn't believe in ghosts. But at night, the thought of a ghost haunting the room scared Ruth. She searched the whole room but didn't find anything or anyone. When no one was found, she returned to bed, gave a sigh of relief, and thought "there is no one in this room but me." All of a sudden, a big voice replied "AND ME!"
THE NIGHT IT RAINED
On a rainy night a man meets a little boy near the cemetery. He asks whether the boy needs a ride home and offers his sweater to the shivering little boy who is all wet. He stops at the home of the little boy and says he will get the sweater next day. He asks the little boy's name and he says his name is Jim. The next day, the man checks for the boy at the his house. The boy's mother answers the door, and tells the man that Jim died almost a year ago and was buried in the cemetery. The man decides to visit Jim's grave, and he feels a chilly air pass when he finds the Jim's sweater lying on the grave.
THE GIRL WITH THE YELLOW RIBBON
Jane wore a yellow ribbon around her neck everyday. It annoyed her best friend Johnny. He was her next door neighbor and had known Jane since she was three. When he was young, he had barely noticed the yellow ribbon, but now they were in high school together.
“Why do you wear that yellow ribbon around your neck, Jane?” he asked her every day. But she wouldn’t tell him.
Everyday, even while they dated, he always asked her, “Why do you wear that yellow ribbon around your neck, Jane?” and she always replied, "Maybe I will tell you another day."
After a while, Johnny asked Jane to marry him. She accepted. Finally, many years later, after they had four children, Jane finally decided to tell Johnny about the ribbon around her neck.
“Okay Johnny, you can go ahead and untie it.”
With shaking hands, Johnny fumbled for the knot and untied the yellow ribbon around his wife’s neck.
And Jane’s head fell off.

The Tiny Witch
There once was a little witch who needed a house to live in. One October day a strong wind blew a piece of orange paper through the air and it landed right at the little witch's feet. She picked it up and realized that it would be perfect for her new house!
First she folded the paper in half. Next, she cut the corner off each side to make a roof. She was so proud of her new house.
It was going to be just perfect! Then she realized she needed a door to get inside. So she cut a tiny little door that would be just right for her to go through with her pointy hat and then she went inside.
Inside the house was very dark and she realized that she needed a window to let in some light, so she cut out a window.
As she was going in and out decorating her new house, she began to think about having a party
and inviting her friends over to see her new home. As she began to plan she realized that she would need a larger door so that her friends could come inside, so she cut a larger door beside her tiny, little door. Finally, she had her home finished and was ready for the party!
Do you want to see how her house looked inside? Let's open it up and take a look!
